Singer Bella Shmurda breaks down in tears, alleges $4m Lagos property scam

Popular Nigerian singer Abiola Akinbiyi, widely known as Bella Shmurda, has sent shockwaves through the music industry and social media after breaking down in tears during a live broadcast, claiming he has been defrauded of a staggering $4 million in a fraudulent Lagos property deal.

The “Cash App” crooner made the emotional disclosure during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, appealing to the public and authorities for immediate intervention.

The Stolen Property and a Disappearing Seller

In the highly emotional livestream, the singer wept openly, stating that he discovered the multi-million-dollar property he purchased did not legally belong to the individual who sold it to him. To make matters worse, the alleged seller completely vanished immediately after receiving the payment.

“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now,” a devastated Bella Shmurda told his fans. “I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property.”

He lamented that the lost sum represented years of tireless work and dedication in his music career.

“And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left,” he pleaded. “I worked for years for this. I can’t lose $4 million like that.”

Legal Actions Initiated

While Bella Shmurda did not publicly name the seller or provide specific details regarding the location of the real estate, he confirmed that he has already instructed his legal team to take immediate steps.

“I just contacted my lawyer for further investigation,” he stated, hoping that legal and law enforcement pathways can help track down the elusive fraudster.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the singer’s heavy allegations have not been independently verified, and neither the Lagos State Police Command nor any other law enforcement agency has issued an official statement regarding the active transaction.

The incident has sparked massive reactions across social media platforms, with fans and colleagues expressing deep concern for the singer’s mental health while demanding a thorough investigation into the notoriously volatile Lagos real estate market.
