WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump has linked the escalating civil unrest and violent protests in France directly to European immigration policies, urging French authorities to immediately close their borders to regain control.
Writing on his Truth Social platform following a wave of violent demonstrations across major French cities that resulted in over 1,800 arrests and hundreds of injured police officers, Trump declared that “France is burning”.
“The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country,” Trump posted. “Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!”
Trump’s remarks align with statements made by U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who similarly criticized European border policies on social media, alleging that Western leaders had failed to address issues of cultural compatibility and integration.
The comments come as the French government under President Emmanuel Macron faces severe political pressure and public outrage amid widespread rallies over living costs, deteriorating public services, and economic conditions that escalated into clashes with law enforcement and arson attacks on municipal infrastructure.
