AKURE — The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Governor Seyi Makinde, has declared that his party will secure victory in the 2027 general elections, predicting that Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed will emerge as the next President of the Nigerian Senate.
Makinde made the assertion on Thursday while addressing party supporters and delegates at the APM South-West Town Hall meeting held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Responding to introductory remarks referring to Governor Bala Mohammed as an incoming senator, Makinde insisted that the Bauchi governor’s political trajectory in 2027 extends to leading the National Assembly.
“When somebody was introducing our national leader (Mohammed) he said ‘the governor of Bauchi State and an incoming senator’,” Makinde stated. “Let me correct that: Senator Bala Mohammed is not just going to the Senate; by the grace of God and the mandate of Nigerians, he will be the next Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when APM takes over power in 2027.”
The declaration comes two days after Governor Bala Mohammed endorsed Makinde at an APM town hall meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, predicting Makinde’s victory in the 2027 presidential poll.
During the Akure gathering, Makinde reiterated his party’s commitment to economic recovery, proposing reforms focused on tax fairness for lower-income earners, price transparency in the energy sector, and enhanced security frameworks across the country.
