LAGOS — Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade is in mourning following the passing of her mother, who died on Sunday, October 18, after a prolonged illness.
The screen star broke the news on Monday through an emotional statement shared on her official Instagram page. Invoking Islamic prayers, the actress expressed deep grief while submitting to the will of God.
“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator on October 18 after a long battle with illness,” Ade wrote.
Ade noted that her mother is survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters, and other loved ones. Offering prayers for her soul, she asked God to grant her family strength and fortify them through the painful loss.
Colleagues in the Nigerian film industry, fans, and well-wishers have flooded social media with messages of condolence, while the family stated that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
