The Presidency has withdrawn the posting of former Kebbi State Governor, Usman Dakingari, as ambassador-designate to Turkey.
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement on Friday.
The statement said that no ambassador has been appointed to Turkey.
This development came a few hours the presidency made the announcement of the ambassadorial postings.
The Lagos Times reports that President Tinubu had approved the posting of four ambassador-designates out of the 68 confirmed by the Senate last December.
The statement confirmed the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke as the ambassador-designate to France and Colonel Lateef Are as the ambassador-designate to the United States of America.
Also confirmed by the President is the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, former ambassador to South Korea, as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former governor of Kebbi State, is the ambassador-designate to Turkey, where the President is scheduled to begin a state visit next week.
However, the presidency omitted Dakingari’s now-rescinded appointment without giving a reason for the change.
“Tinubu has written a memo to the ministry of foreign affairs to notify the governments of the three countries about the ambassadors-designate, in accordance with diplomatic procedures,” the statement said.
