Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday convened a meeting of the Lagos State Security Council, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the state as the festive season approaches.
The meeting, held at the State House in Marina, brought together heads of all major security formations in Lagos. In attendance were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 9 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. A.O. Owolabi; Commander 651 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Group Capt. M.A. Imam; Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Commodore P.P. Nimmyel; and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Moshood.
Also present were representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), led by A.B. Alade; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; Chief Security Officer to the Governor, CSP Fagbemi Adekunle; and Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan.
A statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said Governor Sanwo-Olu was fully briefed by the security chiefs on the current situation in the state and expressed satisfaction with their preparedness and ongoing operations.
Sanwo-Olu urged the agencies to sustain vigilance and proactive measures to ensure Lagos remains peaceful for residents, businesses, and the influx of visitors expected during the Yuletide.
The Governor also assured the public that the festive period would be safe, stable, and filled with goodwill, reiterating his administration’s commitment to supporting all security formations to deliver on their mandates.
“Lagos will remain peaceful,” he said, encouraging residents and visitors to go about their activities with confidence as security agencies intensify patrols and surveillance across the state.
The meeting is part of the state’s routine security coordination efforts aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration and maintaining Lagos’ reputation as one of the safest urban centres in the country.
