LAGOS, NIGERIA — The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has issued an urgent public plea for medical assistance, disclosing that the 66-year-old film icon is battling stage-four cancer.

In emotional videos posted on Instagram, his daughters, Lima (Haleemah) and Kira Taiwo, revealed that several medical facilities have stopped offering chemotherapy treatment due to the advanced stage of the disease.

Stage-Four Diagnosis: The family discovered the full extent of the actor’s condition within the last three weeks, noting that while his outward physical appearance masked the severity initially, his condition has rapidly deteriorated.
Chemotherapy Halted: Hospitals have declined further chemotherapy or active intervention, leading the daughters to seek alternative facilities or specialist oncologists willing to accept his case.
Not Soliciting Funds: Both daughters emphasized that their appeal is strictly for medical connections and expertise—including conventional medical treatments or alternative remedies—and not financial donations.
Financial Backing: The family acknowledged the support of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), noting that he has provided financial backing for his medical bills.

Emotional Statements from the Family

In her video, Lima appealed to doctors and hospital administrators:

“He has cancer and it’s really, really bad. And the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, please, give this man a chance. Nobody wants to do anything… We’re not here to ask for money. If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, we’re willing to try anything.”

Kira urged anyone with medical connections to contact the family directly:

“The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again, like they can’t give him chemo again… My daddy doesn’t want to die. He’s in pain. Please, if you know anybody that can treat my daddy, whether it’s medical or herbs, please send me a DM.”
