‘End of an Era’: Nollywood Icon Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) Committed to Mother Earth in Ilaro

ILARO, OGUN STATE — Tributes and tears poured in as veteran Nollywood actor Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, affectionately known by millions as Ogogo, was laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.
The 66-year-old cultural icon passed away following a battle with stage-four cancer, prompting grief across the Nigerian creative and entertainment industry.
Key Details of the Burial Rites

Islamic Janazah Prayers: In strict accordance with Islamic rites, funeral prayers (Janazah) were held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, attended by family, religious leaders, and a massive turnout of sympathizers.

Lying-in-State & Interment: Following arrangements coordinated by veteran actor Jide Kosoko and the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), his remains were committed to the earth in Ilaro.

Prominent Industry Presence: Legendary colleagues and close friends gathered to pay their last respects, including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Mr. Latin, Faithia Balogun, Ireti Osayemi, and Toyosi Adesanya.
