NEW YORK / ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to join world leaders to address the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) General Debate in New York on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
According to the provisional speaker list issued at the UN headquarters, President Tinubu is slated as the 10th speaker during the morning session on the second day of the high-level debate, speaking between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. New York time (~4:30 p.m. West Africa Time).

Economic Reform Showcase: The Nigerian leader will present his administration’s major economic and structural reform achievements to the global gathering.

West African Border Security: In line with briefings by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, President Tinubu will engage the international body on developing UN-backed regional border policing initiatives across West Africa.

Side Summits & Engagements: The President will participate in high-level engagements focusing on energy, healthcare, education, climate action, and pandemic preparedness.
