2026 WCQ: We’re condemned to beat South Africa – Super Eagles boss, Finidi

Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George has said his team knows the importance of getting a positive result in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against South Africa.

The highly anticipated encounter will hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo on Friday (today).

The Super Eagles garnered just two points from their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe and need to beat South Africa to get their campaign back on track.

Finidi admitted they are condemned to beat Bafana Bafana.

“We’re prepared for the game. The players are focused, they have really worked hard to expect victory on Friday,” the former Ajax and Real Betis winger told reporters.

“We’ve put behind the AFCON clash in Ivory Coast. The AFCON and World Cup qualifiers are two different things. But overall, we’re condemned to win”.
