
ABUJA — Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed deep grief over the passing of the long-standing Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Sani, describing his death as a profound loss not only to the Gumel Emirate and Jigawa State, but to the entire Nigerian nation.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from the State House in Abuja, Vice President Shettima paid tribute to the late monarch’s exemplary leadership, wisdom, and selfless service spanning decades on the throne. Shettima noted that throughout his distinguished reign, the late Emir remained a steadfast advocate for peaceful coexistence, community development, educational advancement, and social cohesion across northern Nigeria and the nation at large.
