MANCHESTER — Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3–0 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth on Sunday, October 25, 2026, dropping to 16th in the Premier League table and placing manager Michael Carrick under extreme pressure.
Playing at Old Trafford, the Red Devils delivered a disjointed performance following a week dominated by tactical disputes. Carrick raised eyebrows prior to kickoff by leaving team captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench for the entire 90 minutes following public criticisms directed at the coaching staff during the midweek Champions League loss.
The decision backfired as the visitors dominated the first half. Bournemouth opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Rayan volleyed home at the far post following a set-piece delivery. Just five minutes later, a costly defensive slip by center-back Leny Yoro allowed Adrien Truffert to set up Marcus Tavernier to double the lead into an empty net.
United failed to mounts a comeback in the second half. In the 71st minute, Bournemouth striker Evanilson latched onto a clearance, outpaced the defense, rounded goalkeeper Senne Lammens, and whipped a lofted strike from a tight angle to wrap up a dominant victory.
