Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has urged party members to maintain peace during the party’s primary elections.
Ojelabi made the call in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos ahead of the APC primaries for the 2027 general elections.
He appealed to party faithful to conduct themselves peacefully while electing candidates for the 24 House of Representatives seats in the state.
The APC chairman appreciated members for their contributions to the growth and stability of the party across the state.
He urged them to continue supporting the party’s programmes and policies in the interest of strengthening democracy in the country.
Ojelabi, also chairman of the Forum of APC State Chairmen, assured members of adequate security throughout the primary election process.
He said the party had put necessary measures in place to guarantee peaceful and credible conduct of the exercise across the state.
“The party has made adequate arrangements to ensure peaceful conduct of the primary election across the state.
“We have also provided a level-playing ground for all aspirants and equal opportunity for members to participate freely in the exercise.
“We assure our teeming supporters of their safety and security as they come out to vote in this historic primary election of our party.
“Everything that could impede their peace and progress has been taken care of,” he said.
Ojelabi warned individuals with plans to foment trouble during the exercise to desist from acts capable of disrupting the process.
“We warn mischief makers to have a rethink as we will not condone any act of sabotage.
“The party will not tolerate violence, intimidation or divisive acts from any member, no matter how highly placed.
“We will deal decisively with any anti-progress act capable of undermining the unity and stability of the party,” he added.
The APC chairman also cautioned aspirants to prevail on their supporters to avoid actions capable of causing unrest during the primaries.
According to him, any violence linked to an aspirant may attract sanctions in line with agreements reached with the party.
“Such actions may lead to disqualification from the race, suspension or outright dismissal from the party,” Ojelabi said.
