ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Federal Government has formally inaugurated the Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), ending a five-year institutional vacancy without a governing board.
Inaugurating the board on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, charged the newly appointed members to fast-track structural reforms across Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
The move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on shifting national education policy from overreliance on theoretical academic qualifications toward practical, competency-based skills acquisition and industrial workforce readiness.

“No Nation Achieves Industrialisation Without Skilled Manpower”
Addressing board members and education stakeholders during the swearing-in ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa emphasized:
