ADO-EKITI — Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate dissolution of all state-owned boards, commissions, and parastatals, alongside the termination of appointments for select political aides, as the administration formally winds down its first term ahead of upcoming transition milestones.
The decision was announced in an official statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode. According to the directive, the sweeping changes take effect immediately, setting the stage for structural reorganization ahead of Governor Oyebanji’s second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.
Scope of Dissolution and Exemptions
The administrative shake-up primarily affects lower-tier political appointees, including Special Assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Technical Assistants (TAs). However, the governor’s directive carves out distinct exemptions for statutory bodies, critical educational councils, and executive advisory positions to ensure institutional continuity during the transition phase.
Key exemptions outlined in the statement include:

Statutory Commissions: Chairmen and members of constitutionally protected bodies—such as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission—remain unaffected by the dissolution.

Tertiary Institutions: The governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions remain fully intact, in line with prior directives issued by the governor.

Specialized Boards: While the boards of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Local Government Service Commission, and the Teaching Service Commission have been dissolved, their respective chairmen retain their positions.

Senior Leadership: Directors-General (DGs) and Technical Advisors to the Governor are similarly exempt from the termination of appointments.
