The governor of Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Monday signed the bill creating 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
The speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oladiji Olamide, on Saturday presented the bill to Akeredolu.
Akeredolu received the bill during a brief ceremony at the Ondo governor’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo state where he went following his return from abroad where he was for some months to undergo medical treatment.
With Akeredolu’s assent, the bill which had already been passed by the Ondo House of Assembly, now has the legal backing for the creation of the 33 LCDAs in the state.
“The establishment of the LCDAs marks a substantial step towards fulfilling our campaign promises and addressing the aspirations of the people for enhanced grassroots development,” Akeredolu said.
Akeredolu arrived in the country from Germany via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja last Thursday.
The governor had travelled to Germany in June for medical treatment, leaving the affairs of the state in the hands of his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, after transferring power to him in an acting capacity when he wrote to the House of Assembly.
