The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) as part of measures to boost staff morale and improve service delivery across the territory.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, by the Head of Service of the FCT, Dr. Udo Samuel Atang.
Breakdown of Promoted Personnel
The promotion exercise follows the completion of the 2024/2025 promotion examinations and performance evaluations conducted across all secretariats, departments, and agencies (SDAs) of the FCTA:

Senior Directorate and Officer Cadre: A total of 2,214 senior officers were elevated across various professional lines, including administrative officers, engineers, accountants, and urban planners.

Executive and Junior Cadre: A total of 1,378 junior and executive officers advanced to their next grade levels.

Effective Date: The FCT Civil Service Commission confirmed that all promotions take immediate effect, with corresponding financial adjustments scheduled to reflect in the upcoming payroll cycle.
