Over 5,000 Ogun PDP Stalwarts Defect to APC in Yewa South

ILARO — No fewer than 5,000 prominent leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at a mass rally held in Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area.

The defectors, predominantly drawn from the Ogun West Senatorial District, were formally received into the party fold on Sunday, September 20, 2026, by Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Senator representing Ogun West, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), and the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.

Leading the wave of defections was the former state chairman of the PDP, Sikirullahi Ogundele, alongside key opposition figures including former PDP Publicity Secretary Mr. Akinloye Bankole, Chief Sina Adejobi, former Yewa North LG Chairman Evangelist Soji Eweje, Alhaji Ganiu Dada (Obanibasiri), and former PDP Woman Leader Chief Kemi Adeyemi.

“The truth is that there is nothing like the PDP again in the state; what is left behind is an empty shell… some of us have escaped so as not to allow the PDP dilapidated house to collapse on us. We have moved away to escape political slavery and embrace the APC, which is the next victorious party in 2027,” Ogundele stated during the reception.
