IKORODU, LAGOS STATE — The Lagos State Government (LASG) has officially commenced a phased activation plan for the Imota Industrial Hub in Ikorodu, prioritizing ready-to-use facilities to boost local manufacturing, empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and strengthen regional agro-processing value chains.
The operational strategy was announced following an extensive facility readiness assessment led by the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, alongside officials from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
Core Pillars of the Phased Activation Strategy

Phase 1 (Immediate Inventory & Interventions): Conducting a full inventory of operational units and machinery, assessing power infrastructure, setting up facility management structures, and identifying prospective manufacturers and processors.

Phase 2 (Onboarding & Skills Integration): Onboarding selected businesses into prioritized clusters—specifically agro-processing, rice-related activities, packaging, and equipment fabrication—while integrating ITF-backed industrial apprenticeship and vocational certification programs.

Phase 3 (Expansion & Full Operationalization): Upgrading supporting infrastructure, managing heavy-duty logistics and truck parking, expanding cluster spaces, and attracting private capital investments.

Shared Infrastructure Model: Rather than operating as isolated factory spaces, the hub is designed as an integrated industrial cluster. Complementary enterprises will share machinery, cold/dry storage, packaging lines, and logistics infrastructure to reduce overhead production costs.
