Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Tuesday, promised to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Works to improve road development in the state.
Sanwo-Olu said this while receiving the Minister of State for Works, Mr Bello Goronyo, who came on a courtesy visit to the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
He noted that the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) plays different roles in the state, adding that more was expected from the agency in rehabilitating more roads to reduce gridlock and enhance socio-economic development.
“Infrastructure development is the major driver for any government to show what is done for its people.
“What I say to people is that if poor interventions are in health and education, the people might choose not to use those services.
“But they cannot choose not to use the road. They cannot choose not to use a bridge,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor congratulated Goronyo on his well-deserved appointment by President Bola Tinubu, noting that his tireless work as a party man would serve the interest of Nigerians.
The minister, in his response, thanked the governor for his continuous support and promised to work in synergy with the state.
“What we need from you is your continuous support and cooperation. This is your project, your Excellency. So we are just coming home, and I believe whatever we solicit from you, you will give it to us.
“Our dear President Bola Tinubu’s goal is just to put a smile on the faces of Nigerians. We have seen the zeal, we have seen the commitment.
“We have seen the doggedness in which he is pursuing the Renewed Hope agenda,” Goronyo said.
