Mr Macaroni Breaks Silence on Why He Scaled Back Government Criticism

LAGOS — Popular Nigerian actor, skit maker, and social activist Adebowale Adedayo, professionally known as Mr Macaroni, has clarified why he significantly reduced his public criticism of government policies, pointing to activist fatigue, backlashes from citizens he advocated for, persistent life threats, and the frustration of repeating the same warnings without collective action.

Addressing public inquiries on Wednesday, September 16, 2026—following a recirculated broadcast interview—the content creator emphasized that his decision was not driven by fear or compromise, but by a deliberate choice to step back until citizens demonstrate a genuine readiness to demand accountability.

Mr Macaroni noted that his March 2026 statement heavily criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration served as the definitive turning point when he decided to take a temporary hiatus from political commentary to focus on redefining his artistic projects.

“I am only tired of saying the same thing over and over again. My issue with us as Nigerians is how we move on quickly. We complain and move on. There is nothing I will say now that I haven’t already said a hundred times over,” Mr Macaroni stated. “When Nigerians are finally ready, I will be ready too! But till then, please let me continue enjoying my break by redefining myself and Art, which I love as dearly as I love Nigeria.”
