ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to iconic Nollywood actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, following his passing at the age of 84.
The death of the veteran actor was confirmed by his family in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, and his wife, veteran actress Joke Silva.
Expressing deep sadness over the loss, President Tinubu described Olu Jacobs as a “giant of the Nigerian creative industry” and praised his ability to bring unmatched dignity, depth, and authenticity to his roles across a decorated career spanning over five decades.
“He was a giant of the Nigerian creative industry. His passing is a great loss to Nigeria, the African film industry, and the global community of lovers of the performing arts,” President Tinubu stated. “His remarkable body of work will continue to speak to generations yet unborn.”
