Popular Nollywood gaffer, friend found dead on movie set in Lekki

The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the mysterious deaths of *Ekemini ‘GeeTee’ Imeh*, a prominent lighting director, and his childhood friend, Ayodeji Walter Odediran, during a film production in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The incident occurred on Saturday, February 7, at a popular hospital in Lekki, which was being used as a location for a movie produced and directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma. Imeh, the CEO of a leading lighting company, was a respected figure in the industry, known for his work on major projects like ‘King of Boys’ and music videos for top artists like Davido.

*Timeline of the Tragedy*
According to a source close to the victims, the duo arrived at the location early Saturday to set up lighting equipment. After completing the setup around 10:00 AM, they retired to Imeh’s tinted Nissan car to rest while waiting for the camera crew and actors.

A production staff member reported bringing breakfast to the vehicle around 11:00 AM. He noted that the pair appeared to be relaxing with the air conditioning on. However, concern grew throughout the day as Imeh and Odediran failed to answer repeated calls from family members and the production team.

The bodies were discovered between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM after the day’s shoot concluded. Although the car had reportedly been moved from the production’s designated parking area to a spot
directly in front of the hospital reception, the victims were found unresponsive inside. Witnesses described a harrowing scene: Odediran was foaming at the mouth, while Imeh was found face-down with blood appearing around his nose, eyes, and mouth.

*Allegations of Foul Play and Police Intervention*
The victims’ families have raised concerns regarding a potential cover-up. Sources claim that the hospital initially prevented photos from being taken and that the local Maroko Police Station failed to provide a clear explanation for the deaths before ordering the bodies to be moved to the morgue.

Following the intervention of a retired police officer acting on behalf of the families, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti for a more rigorous investigation.

*Current Status of Investigation*
The Lagos State Police Command has taken significant steps in the ongoing investigation. The movie producer, Boma, has been detained for questioning, along with the caterer who supplied the meals and the staff member who delivered the food to the car.

Police investigators are also currently stationed at the hospital in Lekki to review CCTV footage and interrogate security personnel and medical staff on duty during the incident. The families of the deceased are calling for a thorough autopsy and full prosecution if foul play is confirmed.
