Ukraine and Russia have again reported numerous mutual airstrikes during the night and in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The Ukrainian air force said the nation’s air defence system shot down 22 of 33 drones during the night and that some drones had not reached their targets.
Russia’s attacks mainly focused on the eastern and southern regions of the country, including Kharkiv, the Ukrainian air force said.
The Russian authorities in turn said Ukraine had carried out drone and missile attacks.
The Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov of Belgorod said on Thursday morning that Russian air defences shot down 10 Ukrainian missiles.
“One woman was injured in an attempted strike and the windows of one house were broken,” he said.
Belgorod has reported shelling coming from Ukraine for some time.
Gladkov also said several people were still receiving treatment in hospital following attacks at the end of December.
Earlier, Moscow Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, reported a foiled drone attack on the Russian capital, saying the airborne object was shot down in the Moscow region.
The Russian Ministry of Defence said a drone was also shot down in the Leningrad region that surrounds St Petersburg.
It described both as attempts to carry out terrorist attacks on Russian regions.
Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
In its defence campaign, Ukraine has repeatedly shelled Russian territories both in the border region and in the hinterland.
However, the damage or casualty figures in Russia are far lower compared to the massive scale of deaths and destruction caused by the Russian campaign in Ukraine.
