ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has adjusted its retail pump price for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) upward by ₦75 per litre across its filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory.
A market survey conducted on Monday, August 31, 2026, revealed that NNPCL outlets in Gwarinpa, as well as Wuse Zones 4 and 6, adjusted their retail prices from ₦1,270 to ₦1,345 per litre.
Key Highlights of the Latest Price Hike
-
Station Confirmation: An attendant at an NNPCL outlet in Abuja confirmed the rate change on Monday morning, stating: “Our petrol pump price was raised to ₦1,345 per litre today.”
-
Follows Private Depot Hikes: The ₦75 adjustment by the state oil company comes shortly after private marketing firms—including MRS, Ranoil, and Empire Energy—reviewed their retail prices upward by between ₦20 and ₦80 per litre over the weekend.
-
Linked to Dangote Gantry Shift: Industry checks indicate that the retail surge is largely driven by Dangote Petroleum Refinery raising its ex-gantry price by ₦65 to ₦1,265 per litre, driving up procurement costs across downstream networks.
