Kebbi attack: IGP Disu orders intensified hunt for perpetrators

ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered an intensified manhunt and strengthened security deployment across Kebbi State following a violent encounter with heavily armed bandits along the Rafin Makuku axis in Sakaba Local Government Area (LGA).

The bloody confrontation, which occurred at approximately 9:25 AM on Monday, August 10, 2026, resulted in the tragic death of 10 police officers and several civilians after police operatives intercepted bandits moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states. During the intense gun battle, police operatives successfully neutralized at least 17 bandits and destroyed four operational motorcycles belonging to the attackers.
