ABUJA — Bello El-Rufai, member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has revealed that key national political figures across major opposition camps routinely inquire about his father, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Speaking during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the younger El-Rufai disclosed that prominent political leaders—including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and NNPP leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—frequently reach out to ask about his father’s political trajectory and wellbeing ahead of the 2027 general election.
He noted that the continuous inquiries from figures across the political divide demonstrate his father’s enduring strategic importance and influence within national political alignments, despite his current distance from frontline partisan engagements.
Addressing ongoing speculation regarding his father’s future moves, Bello stated that Nasir El-Rufai remains a major figure in Nigerian statecraft whose strategic consultation continues to be sought by diverse political coalitions aiming to build strong national structures ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
