Tony Elumelu to Co-Chair New Africa Summit at Future Investment Initiative in Saudi Arabia
Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa (UBA), and Founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), will co-chair the New Africa Summit at the eighth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This year’s event, themed “Infinite Horizons,” will bring together some of the world’s most influential leaders to explore how investments can foster a sustainable and prosperous future.
As a renowned business leader and philanthropist, Elumelu will leverage his platform at FII to advocate for entrepreneurship and investment in African youth as essential drivers of the continent’s economic growth. His insights will draw on the impact of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which has empowered thousands of African entrepreneurs to combat poverty and create jobs across the continent.
On October 29, Elumelu will join the Opening Plenary session titled “Board of Changemakers: Banking & Investment,” where he will engage with other global leaders on how visionary leadership can establish new, innovative economic systems. He will also highlight UBA’s growing presence in the Gulf, emphasizing the role of cross-border investment in advancing Africa’s economic ties with the region.
Notably, the event will feature other top executives from Heirs Holdings. Owen Omogiafo, President and Group CEO of Transcorp Group, will participate in the HERizon Summit to discuss sustainable supply chains, while Osa Igiehon, CEO of Heirs Energies, will share his perspectives on Africa’s energy transition. Muyiwa Akinyemi, Deputy Managing Director of UBA Group, will also contribute to discussions on fostering stronger economic partnerships between Africa and the Gulf.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation will host a plenary session during the forum, focused on the critical role of youth entrepreneurship in creating shared prosperity for Africa. Elumelu’s presence at FII underscores his ongoing commitment to Africapitalism—an economic philosophy advocating for private sector leadership in Africa’s development.
Speaking ahead of the event, Elumelu stated, “The relationship between Africa and the Gulf has evolved into a thriving economic partnership. At FII, we will explore mutually beneficial investment opportunities and highlight how entrepreneurship can transform visions into ventures, building a legacy of shared prosperity.”
