ABUJA — Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a decisive victory in the 2027 presidential election, asserting that a merger between opposition figures Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would still fail to stop the ruling party.
Speaking on national television, the PDP chieftain argued that opposition figures are underestimating the structural weight of incumbency, electoral arithmetic, and state power in Nigerian politics.
Fayose maintained that the fragmented opposition platforms lack the cohesive structure, financial backing, and unified leadership required to dismantle the All Progressives Congress (APC) alignment ahead of 2027.
“If Atiku and Peter Obi join hands together today, Bola Tinubu will still defeat them comfortably in 2027,” Fayose stated. “In Nigerian politics, you don’t fight power from a weak, divided front. Tinubu holds the levers of government, the political structures across the states, and the strategy. An opposition that cannot settle its own internal leadership battles cannot defeat an incumbent president.”
