Participants in the free holiday coaching programme of Agege Local Government, Lagos State, have expressed appreciation to the council as the four-week exercise ended.
The Supervisor for Information, Mr Olayiwola Rasheed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
The coaching was conducted across seven wards, providing students with structured academic support during the holiday period.
The programme ran daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., covering Science, Commercial and Arts subjects.
Master Sayo Olowoyo, a participant, said the coaching strengthened his understanding of key subjects and prepared him for the new academic session.
Olowoyo thanked the council chairman for introducing the intervention to improve students’ academic performance.
Another participant, Miss Goodness Adefila, said the free classes helped her revise difficult topics and boosted her confidence ahead of her GCE examination.
Miss Kehinde Akinbobu said facilitators simplified difficult areas in Mathematics and Science, making her better prepared for school.
Akinbobu also appreciated the council chairman for providing the opportunity for students to benefit from the programme.
Addressing participants, the council chairman, Mr Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, described the initiative as a deliberate intervention to strengthen educational outcomes.
“This programme reflects our commitment to ensuring learning continues beyond the regular classroom,” Obasa said.
He said the council was equipping students with the tools needed to excel academically and compete favourably.
Obasa added that investing in young people remained essential to the long-term development of Agege Local Government.
The programme coordinator, Mr Adigun Joseph, commended school management, facilitators, parents and students for its successful implementation.
Joseph said the programme focused on quality teaching within a structured and conducive learning environment throughout the exercise.
The local government appreciated the students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders for their cooperation in delivering the programme successfully.
