President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, seeking confirmation of the newly appointed service chiefs.
The letter, addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was read during Tuesday’s plenary session at the National Assembly in Abuja.
Those nominated for confirmation include:

General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff

Major-General Waheedi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff

Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff

Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke as Chief of Air Staff

Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence
In his correspondence, President Tinubu urged the Senate to give prompt consideration to the nominations to ensure seamless continuity in the nation’s security leadership.
The Senate has referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation, expected to take place next week.
