The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced the closure of the donation account for the Oluremi @65 Education Fund, following the successful mobilisation of N25.52 billion for the construction of the National Library.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Mrs Tinubu said the dedicated account would be shut on December 31, 2025, marking the conclusion of the fundraising phase of the initiative, which was launched to commemorate her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025.
She expressed gratitude to Nigerians, family members, friends and well-wishers whose generous contributions made the project a success, describing the outpouring of support as a reflection of the nation’s collective commitment to education, knowledge preservation and national development.
“As at today, a total of N25,520,708,074.35 has been donated to the Oluremi @65 Education Fund,” the First Lady disclosed.
Mrs Tinubu noted that the National Library project is being supervised by the Honourable Minister of Education and stated that any further support for the initiative should be channelled through the Federal Ministry of Education.
She thanked all contributors for their goodwill and unity, which she said the initiative had inspired, and wished Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous 2026.
The Oluremi @65 Education Fund was established as a landmark education-focused initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s intellectual infrastructure through the development of a functional National Library.
