CASABLANCA, MOROCCO — The Super Falcons of Nigeria 🇳🇬 suffered a historic defeat as they failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, following a 2-1 loss to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana 🇿🇦 in the CAF Women’s World Cup play-off at Stade Moulay Rachid in Casablanca.
The defeat marks the first time since the inception of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991 that 10-time African champions Nigeria will be absent from the global showpiece, bringing an end to a 35-year streak across nine consecutive tournament appearances.
