Dangote Asserts ₦2.15 Trillion Refinery Public Offer Focuses on Economic Inclusion Over Raising Capital

LAGOS — As trading opened on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday, September 14, 2026, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, declared that the core philosophy behind the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) is democratizing ownership and fostering continental wealth creation rather than simply raising money.

Speaking at the official launch ceremony in Lagos, the industrialist emphasized that while the public offer is projected to raise ₦2.15 trillion—making it one of the largest equity offerings in African history—the primary objective is to allow everyday citizens, workers, and retail investors across the continent to share directly in the prosperity of a world-class industrial asset.

“This IPO is not only about raising capital; it is about democratising wealth creation, broadening participation in Africa’s industrial future, and giving millions of investors the opportunity to own a stake in a world-class enterprise,” Dangote stated. “I want drivers, cooks, and market women selling on the streets across Africa to invest so they can share in this prosperity.”
