Fuel imports: We’re ready for court cases – Dangote

LAGOS — Industrialist and President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has declared that his conglomerate is fully prepared to take on all legal battles and court cases mounted by interest groups seeking to sustain fuel imports and frustrate local refining capacity across Africa.

Speaking during an investor address in Lagos over the weekend, the billionaire businessman directly addressed recent judicial challenges regarding fuel importation licenses in Nigeria and fresh court orders targeting his group’s expansion projects across the continent.

Dangote revealed that entrenched local and international oil cabals are actively fighting to preserve lucrative petroleum import businesses, accusing them of attempting to undercut domestic refining operations by flooding markets with cheap, imported fuel from offshore vessels.

He stressed that navigating complex litigation and regulatory sabotage is nothing new for his organization, citing previous high-stakes legal battles in Senegal and other African countries where his projects faced temporary court injunctions before being completely cleared by apex courts.

Reaffirming his commitment to regional energy independence and industrial growth, Dangote declared that no amount of legal maneuvering or market resistance will derail the operation of his mega-refineries, insisting that local production remains the only sustainable path to economic self-sufficiency for Nigeria and the African continent.
