Electricity consumers increase to 12.16m in Q4 of 2025 -NBS

The number of electricity consumers rose by 130,000 from 12.03 million in the third quarter of 2025 to 12.16 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 indicating a 1.11 per cent increase.

This is contained in a fourth quarter (Q4) 2025 electricity report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the review focuses on energy billed, revenue generated, and customers by DISCOS under the reviewed period.

It stated that on a year-on-year basis, the number of electricity customers decreased by 8.52 per cent in Q4 of 2025 from 13.30 million reported in Q4 2024.

It also said that in Q4 of 2025, the number of metered customers stood at 6.97 million compared with the 6.66 million recorded in Q3 of 2025, which indicated a 4.58 per cent increase.

”On a year-on-year basis, the figure grew by 12.18 per cent from the 6.21million reported in Q4 2024,” the report said.

The report added that estimated electricity customers stood at 5.20 million in Q4 of 2025, showing a decrease of 3.20 per cent over the 5.37 million recorded in Q3 of 2025.

”On a year-on-year basis, estimated customers also decreased by 26.67  per cent in Q4 of 2025 from the 7.09  million recorded in Q4 of 2024,” it said.

The NBS further said that electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), collected N630.93 billion in revenue in Q4 of 2025 compared with the N570.26 billion collected in Q3 of 2025.

It added that on a year-on-year basis, revenue collected rose by 23.75 per cent over the N509.84 billion collected in Q4 of 2024.

It said that electricity supply was 6,627.56 (Gwh) in the fourth quarter of 2025 from 6,158.52 (Gwh) recorded in the third quarter of 2025, which represented a 7.62 per cent increase.

The report also said on a year-on-year basis, electricity supply increased by 6.76 per cent in Q4 of 2025 compared with the 6,207.85 (Gwh) reported in Q4 of 2024.
