Mr Raul Yemaren, Chairman, Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State has warned students in the council to say no to cultism and bad groups, in order to be successful.
Yemaren gave the advice on Thursday, while speaking on the Role of Youths in Nation Building as Nigeria marked its 65th independence anniversary.
He expressed delight at the behaviour of many youths in the area, saying that their positive ambitions will take them to great heights.
“We are proud of you today. If you continue in this way, your future is bright but my advice for you is to say no to cultism and drugs.
“Cultism and bad groups are spoilers of dreams, desist from them and be good ambassadors of Badagry LCDA,” he said.
The chairman urged the youths to
remain focused, disciplined and ambitious.
According to him, no nation can go grow without their youths, who are its future.
“Any nation whose youth have zero values is a wasted nation without a future. The future of our council and Lagos state at large is your hands and we need you to work tirelessly to be successful.
“Education is your strongest weapon in shaping the future, and I assure you that this administration will continue to stand by you, investing in your growth and creating opportunities for your dreams to thrive,” he said.
On Independence Day message, Yemaren said the celebration was not just the freedom earned as a nation but also the renewed strength to build a greater future together.
“We salute the sterling leadership of President Bola Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Agenda is steadily rekindling trust, driving reforms, and setting Nigeria on the path of lasting prosperity.
“In Lagos State, our Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through his THEMES-plus Agenda, has continued to deliver impactful projects and programmes that touch every sphere of governance-transportation, education, health, technology, security and more.
“Here in Badagry West LCDA, in just a few days in office as your substantive council chairman, I must confess that though we have given you a little, there are indeed many more in stock” he said.
