ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally transmitted the 2026 statutory budget proposal for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to the House of Representatives, urging lawmakers to grant the estimates swift legislative consideration and approval.
The executive communication was officially read on the floor of the House during plenary by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, with the President affirming that the submission strictly complies with Section 18(1) of the NDDC Act, 2000.
The proposed financial estimates focus heavily on completing critical legacy infrastructure, expanding regional road networks, funding youth empowerment programs, and stabilizing socio-economic conditions across the nine oil-producing states of the Niger Delta.
President Tinubu emphasized that the timely passage of the financial framework remains essential to preventing funding gaps in ongoing intervention projects and aligning regional development goals with the broader national economic strategy.
Following the reading of the presidential letter, Speaker Abbas referred the budget proposal to the House Committee on NDDC for detailed legislative scrutiny and reporting ahead of second reading and final passage.
