My Period Stories returns for its second season on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 12:30 PM on Africa Magic Family (DStv & GOtv), bringing with it a renewed mission: to challenge menstrual stigma and amplify the lived experiences of menstruators through the power of storytelling.
Anchored in audacity, conviction, and passion, Season 2 builds on the success of the inaugural season in 2024, boldly confronting the cultural silence around menstruation. Through deeply personal narratives, the show aims to shift mindsets, open up intergenerational dialogue, and spark policy-centered conversations.
“We believe it’s time to shatter the silence,” says Funke Treasure, Podcast Host and Executive Producer of My Period Stories. “This is not just content. It’s a quiet revolution—one that reaches into homes, institutions, and across borders. We are using media to humanise menstruation and transform attitudes at scale.”
The Movement Behind the Media
My Period Stories is a platform for advocacy that calls for:
– Recognising menstrual health as a human right and public health priority
– Dismantling social stigmas around periods
– Transforming norms and policies to ensure dignity in menstruation
– Creating systemic change to address period poverty
– Promoting innovations like menstrual pad banks in schools and menstrual leave policies
Inspired by global policy shifts—from menstrual leave in Zambia to national prominence in Ghana—the show also seeks to galvanise action within Nigeria. The hope is to see menstrual health take its rightful place on the agenda of governments, schools, and workplaces across the continent.
In Season Two of the podcast, there is a special four part series on Fighting Fibroids, and sit downs with menstruators dealing with PCOS, and mental fatigue amongst other fascinating guests.
Corporate Partnership for Social Change
The podcast’s broadcast have been made possible through a partnership with Multichoice, Africa’s largest entertainment company, demonstrating a working model for SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

My Period Stories was created in July 2022 as an audio podcast, it transited into a video podcast in 2023 when production started. It made a spectacular outing on Multichoice’ Africa Magic Family on DStv Channel 145 and GOtv Channel 7 in April 2024, across Sub Saharan Africa.
It was introduced to Nigerians on Africa Day 2025 at the School for Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG) Africa’s Big Ideas Platform event.
The first of it’s kind hybrid podcast on menstrual health was produced by Yellow Bloom productions for Illuminate Nigeria Development Network.
The podcast host, Anikeade Funke Treasure is a multi-genre media personality, with experience in literature, electronic, print and digital media. She is a thought leader in menstrual health and a commentator on current affairs. The award winning social entrepreneur is an author of three books.
