
ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to the Federal Capital Territory on Monday evening, October 5, 2026, concluding a six-day working visit to Lagos State following his return from working vacation in Europe.
The President’s departure from the former federal capital was confirmed in an official State House announcement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
President Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, after concluding his annual vacation in London and Paris. During his stay in the commercial capital, the President delivered his national address on October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, assuring citizens that federal economic reforms were beginning to yield structural stability.
As part of his public schedule in Lagos, President Tinubu attended the national premiere of MKO, a documentary chronicling the political struggle and democratic legacy of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts.
On Sunday, October 4, the President paid a private visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Oba Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu, at the Iga Iduganran Palace on Lagos Island.
Following his return to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Monday night, President Tinubu is expected to resume administrative duties, oversee federal cabinet meetings, and receive security briefings regarding ongoing counter-terrorism operations and emergency response efforts across the country.
