Lawmaker representing the Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has confirmed that there was an attempt to impeach the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
Kalu, who spoke on Tuesday, while addressing newsmen about US concerns over attacks on Christians in Nigeria and Trump’s warning of possible military action, however, said the plot was thwarted.
According to the former governor of Abia State, the attempt was birthed by what he described as “family misunderstanding”
“There were attempts, but we didn’t allow that to happen. We are one big family, and it’s not going to happen”, Senator Kalu stated.
On the nation’s economy, Kalu acknowledged ongoing hardship but maintained that macroeconomic indicators are improving.
“As a businessman, I am feeling the pain too. The macro economy is doing well, but the micro economy is not. Foreign investors are coming in. What is left is for this progress to trickle down so people can eat daily and return to farming.”
The lawmaker stated that both the President and the Senate are working relentlessly to revive the economy and ensure food security.
