BIRNIN KEBBI, NIGERIA — Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris has declared that his administration’s financial discipline and prudent management of state resources have built sufficient reserves to pay state workers’ salaries and pensions for five consecutive months without relying on allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

Speaking in Birnin Kebbi at the opening of the Health Workers’ Summit organized by the Kebbi State Assembly of Health Workers, Governor Idris emphasized his background as a veteran labor leader and reiterated his commitment to prioritizing civil service welfare, healthcare infrastructure, and employment expansion across the state.

  • FAAC Independence Reserve: Governor Idris asserted that Kebbi State has established financial safeguards capable of funding five months of continuous salary and pension disbursements without waiting for monthly FAAC distributions.

  • Civil Service Recruitment: Since assuming office, the administration lifted the state employment embargo and recruited 5,166 new civil servants, including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.

  • Healthcare & Consolidated Salary Structure: The governor highlighted the implementation of the new consolidated salary structure for medical and health workers, along with state-wide rehabilitation of general hospitals and primary healthcare centers.
