President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire outbreak that occurred on Tuesday at Afriland Towers, Broad Street, Lagos Island, which claimed lives and left several others injured.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commiserated with the families of the victims as well as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Capital, United Bank of Africa (UBA) Plc, and Afriland Properties Limited, which were all affected by the incident.
Tinubu extended his prayers to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, urging them to find comfort in God Almighty.
“The President commends the emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical personnel, and members of the public, for their quick intervention and their deep sense of responsibility during the evacuation,” the statement noted.
The President also advised that more caution, training, and vigilance be applied in order to avert similar emergencies in the future.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and the speedy healing of those currently receiving medical treatment.
