LAGOS — Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a major reduction in its Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) gantry price, cutting the rate by N80 per litre from N1,780 to N1,700 per litre to provide significant cost relief to domestic commercial buyers and industrial consumers.
The updated price template, which took effect on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, places the refinery’s wholesale diesel between N75 and N85 per litre cheaper than imported landed products across major maritime terminals.
Comparative industry checks on the import landing costs published by the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) showed that imported diesel currently lands at coastal depots between N1,775 and N1,785 per litre, giving Dangote’s domestic output a clear competitive margin.
Management of the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility noted that the downward price review follows recent drops in international crude oil benchmarks and international transport freight costs.
The refinery assured registered petroleum marketers and corporate off-takers that credit adjustments for previously booked but unloaded gantry volumes would be communicated individually to reflect the new discount structure.
The price reduction comes amidst heightened market competition in Nigeria’s downstream sector, with domestic refining output applying sustained downward pressure on imported fuel margins, transporting logistics costs, and broader food inflation across the country.
