President Tinubu Signs 2025 Appropriation Amendment Act, Pushing Implementation Deadline to December 31

ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, officially extending the implementation timeline of the 2025 statutory budget from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

The presidential assent followed the rapid passage of the executive bill by both chambers of the National Assembly—the Senate and the House of Representatives—during emergency legislative sittings in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the administration disclosed that the timeline extension is specifically tailored to allow Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to fully execute ongoing capital projects and exhaust appropriated developmental funds.

The executive branch emphasized that preventing abrupt funding rollbacks will guarantee structural continuity across critical infrastructure sectors, safeguard ongoing procurement cycles, and ensure public capital works are completed without administrative disruption.

President Tinubu commended the legislative leadership for their swift turnaround and collaborative governance, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline and structured economic recovery.
