ABUJA — The Federal Government has officially arraigned 38-year-old Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of an unauthorized parallel body styled as the “Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council” (PFIPC), before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on charges bordering on forgery, criminal conspiracy, and impersonation.
Appearing before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, the defendant was docked by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation following allegations of forging an executive appointment letter bearing the forged signature of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to validate the existence of the fake presidential commission.
The prosecution submitted that Adeyemi unlawfully established the fictitious entity to operate fraudulent diplomatic and commercial transactions, deceive federal officials, and solicit unauthorized investments under the guise of an official agency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Following his “not guilty” plea to the multi-count charge, trial judge Justice Abdulmalik ordered the remand of the defendant at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of his formal bail application.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to November for commencement of trial, directing the prosecution to present its witnesses and formal documentary evidence regarding the alleged institutional forgery.
