FCT Police Debunks Claims of Attack on Naval Officer at Kubwa, Describes Report as False

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed social media reports alleging that police operatives attacked a naval officer, Lt. Ahmed Yerima, during a stop-and-search operation at the NNPC Junction along the Kubwa Expressway.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command described the reports—circulated by Instagram blogger “Mazitundeednut”—as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary tension.

According to the police, the incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on November 16, 2025, when a patrol team stopped an ash-coloured Toyota Camry with a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows. Officers requested the occupant’s identity and an explanation for the concealment, but the driver refused to cooperate, instead making several phone calls and winding up the car windows.

Adeh said three naval personnel later arrived at the scene and properly identified the occupant as their colleague. They also took photos and videos of the interaction. Once the identification was confirmed, police allowed the vehicle to proceed, and operations continued without incident.

“It is surprising to wake up to maliciously crafted tales and, worst of all, allegations of assassination,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement officers carrying out their lawful duties and warned against spreading unverified information that could create fear and apprehension in the FCT.

The Command encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through its emergency lines: 08032003913, 08068587311, and the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) line 08107314192.
