Federal Government to Begin Phase Two Testing for National Single Window Project

ABUJA — The Federal Government has announced that testing for the second phase of the National Single Window (NSW) project will commence next week as part of ongoing efforts to streamline trade documentation and fast-track export clearance operations across Nigerian ports.

The upcoming phase focuses primarily on automating export documentation, integrating key regulatory permits, and consolidating processing channels for export licences, certificates, Forms NXP and NCX, and Free Trade Zone permits.

Under the scheduled rollout, the initial batch of participating institutions—including the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), the Federal Produce Inspection Service (FPIS), the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)—will undergo system integration and operational readiness tests.

The National Single Window project team reported that the digital platform has recorded a 99.98 percent uptime since its initial launch, processing over 156,000 licences and certificates to reduce administrative bottlenecks and enhance cross-border trade efficiency.

Government officials emphasized that the second phase testing aims to ensure seamless interoperability among trade agencies and commercial exporters before full operational deployment, setting the stage for subsequent phases designed to digitize customs declarations and risk analytics frameworks.
