Why we arrested Bobrisky – NIS

Controversial lifestyle influencer Bobrisky, also known as Idris Okuneye, has been apprehended at the Seme border while reportedly attempting to flee Nigeria to the Benin Republic.

This incident, which has garnered significant media attention, was initially revealed by social media critic Verydarkman, who claimed that Nigerian immigration officers intercepted Bobrisky early today.

The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives, where Bobrisky was summoned to answer questions related to leaked audio recordings. In these recordings, he allegedly admitted to bribing officials to avoid imprisonment, with the assistance of a powerful godfather. The audio also raises concerns about Bobrisky’s involvement in a money laundering case that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) purportedly dropped.

In a post on Instagram, Verydarkman stated, “Bobrisky has been arrested this morning at the Seme border while trying to enter Benin Republic to escape the current investigation by the House of Reps. He is allegedly being held by Nigerian immigration… Let’s wait for Bob to debunk this. Cho Cho Cho.”

Bobrisky has previously declined to attend the House of Representatives panel, further intensifying public speculation regarding his alleged involvement in the ongoing investigation.

However, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officially confirmed the apprehension of Bobrisky in a press release shared on their official X handle. The statement read:
