U-20 World Cup Draw: Nigeria in pot 3 with Uzbekistan, Japan and Honduras

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are to begin their lot in the draw for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Argentina with Uzbekistan, Japan, Iraq, Honduras and Fiji in Pot three.

According to the programme of the draw slated for FIFA headquarters in Zurich on Friday, the tournament host, Argentina are in Pot 1 with Uruguay, USA, France, Senegal and Italy.

The draw expected to be streamed live, has Pot 2 – England, Korea Republic, New Zealand, Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia in Pot 2 while Pot 4 comprises teams from – Guatemala, Dominican Republic, The Gambia, Israel, Slovakia and Tunisia.

Sam Johnson is billed to present the draw, which will be conducted by FIFA Director of Tournaments Jaime Yarza. Argentinian Football Association (AFA) President Claudio Tapia will be present, along with a couple of FIFA Legends.

One team from each pot will be drawn into each of the six groups. FIFA’s general principle is to ensure that no group has more than one team from the same confederation drawn into it. The 24 teams will be drawn into six groups of four, with 16 of them advancing to the knockout phase.

The tournament will start from May 20 to June 11.
